New State Assembly Legislation Seeks to Reduce Homeless Population
Sacramento –Assemblymember Tom Daly (D – Anaheim) and Assemblymember David Chiu (D – San Francisco) introduced legislation to help homeless individuals get off the streets permanently by promoting the production of supportive housing in California. Assembly Bill (AB) 2162 would accomplish that objective by making housing developments that are 100% affordable and include a significant percentage of supportive housing units eligible for expedited approval.
“California is facing a severe homelessness crisis,” Assemblymember Daly said. “By streamlining the construction of supportive housing, we can help remove more homeless off the streets permanently. This will create more housing options.”
