Office Art Competition

The Office of Assemblymember Josh Lowenthal is proud to present our first Office Art Competition. This competition intends to highlight both the beauty and importance of art as well as the talented artists of our district.

Submissions are open until Sunday, March 10th. On Tuesday, March 26th from 5PM - 7PM, our office will be hosting an exhibit to spotlight the top 15-20 submissions. At the exhibit, we will select the top 5 submissions to be displayed in our Sacramento or District Office. Our top 3 winners will win a $50, $50, and $100 gift card.

This competition is open to individuals of all ages. Artwork must be two-dimensional.

Accepted mediums for the two-dimensional artwork are as follows:

  • Paintings: oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.
  • Drawings: colored pencil, pencil, ink, marker, pastels, charcoal (It is recommended that charcoal and pastel drawings be fixed.)
  • Collages: must be two dimensional
  • Prints: lithographs, silkscreen, block prints
  • Mixed Media: use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc.
  • Computer-generated art
  • Photographs

Please contact jeanie.le@asm.ca.gov if you have any questions about acceptable formats.

Each entry must be original in concept, design, and execution and may not violate U.S. copyright laws.

  • Any entry that has been copied from an existing photo or image (including a painting, graphic, or advertisement) that was created by someone other than the submission individual is a violation of the competition rules and will not be accepted.
  • An original work is one that is new and different from what others have created. This means that you are the author of the work, and the work is not copied from someone else’s original work.
  • At this time, we do not consider any work you create using AI tools or that incorporates content generated by AI tools to be your original work.
  • Sometimes create work that references other artists, writers, and popular culture in original and meaningful ways. If your work transforms some sort of source material, then it may be considered original. We define transformative work as a new work that adds value, substantially changes, comments on, or gives a new expression or meaning to the source.
  • Please cite any sources you utilize. There are no formatting requirements for sources.
