SACRAMENTO, CA – Josh Lowenthal was sworn in as the Assemblymember for District 69 today in the State Capitol. The newly elected Assemblymember will represent Long Beach, Signal Hill, and Catalina Island’s Avalon, as well as large portions of Carson.
“I’m looking forward to working hard and building the coalitions needed to tackle many of the challenges our state and local neighborhoods are currently facing,” said Lowenthal. “From working to solve the homelessness crisis, improving public schools, and ensuring everyone feels safe in their community. I will be the voice my district needs to create lasting progress.”
Lowenthal was born and raised in a family dedicated to public service. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University. He later attended the University of California, San Diego, earning a Master’s Degree in International Affairs. Growing up and working in Long Beach, Josh committed himself to improving homelessness by helping at-risk children and creating good, 21st-century jobs. He is a successful entrepreneur and business owner with a long, successful record of accomplishment in tech and telecom startups.
Josh Lowenthal grew up in Long Beach, where he attended public schools. He has worked as a local teacher, is a local business owner, and has three young daughters who also attend public schools.
